Hospitality

LiUNA Local 506 currently represents approximately 500 workers in Hospitality Sector, primarily at the CNE and the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Our members work in about 13 different classifications some of which are Waitstaff, Bartenders, Chefs, Event Services, Parking and more. Our members contributions have made Toronto Canada’s top destination in Tourism.

Concrete Sawing & Drilling

LiUNA Local 506 represents approximately 400 workers in Ontario working in this highly skilled sector. Our members use a variety of techniques to efficiently and safely cut large, square, rectangle or round incisions into wall concrete or slab concrete. Our training Centre is one of the very few training facilities that has training delivery status in the Province.

Exhibition Place

Exhibition Place is Canada’s largest entertainment and Business events venue, attracting over 5.5 million visitors per year. LiUNA Local 506 members service the 192 acre urban waterfront in a variety of ways.

Waterproofing

LiUNA Local 506 represents unionized workers employed in Toronto & Simcoe County who perform waterproofing in the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional Sectors. Our members are the most trusted source of knowledge and expertise in the Waterproofing Industry.

Demolition & Abatement

With over 1000 members employed in this sector, LiUNA Local 506 impact has made LiUNA the leading force in Abatement & Demolition across Ontario and Canada. Our members skill level has created opportunities for our members to work abroad. From large machinery to sledgehammers, our members work proudly rebuilding the communities we live and work in.

Tradeshows

LiUNA’s members in this sector are responsible for the set-up & dismantling of the trade shows across the GTA. From the Auto Show to small exhibits, Torontonians and visitors enjoy our beautiful City and the hard work of our members.

Cement Finishers

Our highly skilled members have defined the highest standards of quality in the concrete finishing Industry. Our members have installed hundreds of millions of square feet of concrete in the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional Sectors.

Industrial Workers

Labelled “Industrial” because of the way the non-construction is defined by the Ontario Labour Relations Board. Our Industrial Sectors include; Building Supply Companies, Cemetery Workers, Precast Plants and a multiple of manufacturing.

Mason Tenders

A mason tender is one of the most demanding craft within all Local 506’s sectors, however it can be one of the most rewarding as an onsite assistant to a stonemason. The primary responsibilities of a mason tender are to maintain tools, transport materials, and keep the production on the job site running safe and clean.

Precast Erectors

One of our most skilled sectors, Precast Erectors work in extreme heights installing massive concrete panels that shape our skyscrapers. With precision skill, our members guide these large concrete panels place, securing them to the façade of projects around the province.

Waste Sector

Our waste sector is growing fast and has been increasingly in high demand, not only with service call drivers but also transfer station employees. Local 506 members have great knowledge and experience in Recycling Management, Commercial Waste, and Residential Waste.

EPSCA (Hydro)

In this sector, LiUNA members perform work in the electrical power systems sector in the Province of Ontario on Ontario Power Generation projects. (OPGI), Hydro One, Bruce Power LP and Portlands Energy Centre property for the bulk power system.

Restoration

LiUNA Local 506 represents several types of restoration workers, the most common being Masonry and Cement Finishers. From the rehabilitation of parking garages to working on the restoration of Ontario’s historic landmarks, this particular field is growing as our cities and province are aging.

Pavement Marking

In this sector, LiUNA 506 members work with Guild Electric (one of the largest pavement marking contractors in Ontario) to provide road painting, center lines and outside lines on municipal roads and highways in Ontario.  Our members are some of the most highly trained staff in the industry.
